Huskies Named Academic All-State Gold Team

The 2022 Owatonna Huskies Football Team was one of ten Class 5A teams to earn Academic All-State Gold status from the Minnesota Football Coaches Association.  The Huskies had the seventh highest team GPA (3.27) among the 5A teams.

Below is a description of the purpose of the awards and the criteria used in determining the who receives recognition:

 

PURPOSE OF AWARDS - To promote and recognize academic achievement by Minnesota high school football teams in each classification. Team academic recognitions in each class will be awarded based on the following standards and procedures:

CRITERIA

GOLD AWARDS: A team must have a GPA of 3.26 or above for the past school year for their whole home official roster. NO Freshmen can be included.
SILVER AWARDS: A team must have a GPA of 3.00-3.25 for the past school year for their whole home official roster. NO Freshmen can be included.

GUIDELINES & PROCEDURES:
1.) The teams and awards from each class will be chosen by the Academic All-State Team Committee.
2.) A team must use all members on their official home roster in determining the team GPA (may include Grades 10-12, NO freshmen for small schools).
3.) Each player’s GPA must be considered when calculating composite team GPA.
4.) A 4.00 system will be used and 4.00 will be the highest grade possible. No weighted grades.
5.) Grades will be rounded to two decimal points.
6.) Grades will be from the past full school year. No summer school or current fall grades should be included.
7.) Individual GPA’s will be added together and divided by the number of team members to determine the team GPA. The team GPA must be included on the entry form.
8.) A school official (principal, counselor, etc.) must electronically sign the form.
9.) To be eligible for the team academic awards, the head coach must be a current member of the MFCA.
