In Week 6 of the 2013 season, Owatonna rang up one of the wildest scoring barrages in program history. The Huskies tallied three touchdowns and forced a safety in less than six minutes against Albert Lea in a game that was called with 6 minutes, 7 seconds left in the first quarter due to repeated lightning strikes in the area. Aaron Peterson scored on a 67-yard run on the first snap of the game and Ty Sullivan blocked a punt on the ensuing Albert Lea possession that resulted in a safety at the 9:24-mark. Less than 20 seconds later, Peterson zipped into the end zone from 16 yards out and capped the scoring with a 1-yard TD plunge with 7:20 on the clock, giving OHS a 23-0 lead. The three scores gave Peterson eight touchdowns in a five-quarter stretch that also included the previous week against Austin. Against the Tigers, he finished with 93 yards on just four carries (23.2 YPC).

MEMORIES & MOMENTS I Hosting the Rockets

Hosting Rochester John Marshall on Oct. 10, 2014, the Huskies recovered two kickoffs in the game’s final seven minutes and pulled off an improbable 25-24 victory. After drawing within 24-19 on a 5-yard touchdown grab by Alec Holcomb with 6 minutes, 55 second left in the fourth, the Huskies recovered the ensuing onside kick by Aiden Buryska near midfield. Six consecutive runs got Owatonna deep into the red zone and Alex Emanuelson gave them a one-point lead when he found Isaac Rocha for a 6-yard TD at the 3:56-mark. On the following kickoff, Buryska again put the ball hard on the ground, and after bouncing off players from both teams, it was recovered by Owatonna. Although the Huskies didn’t record a first down on the following possession, they forced the Rockets burn all their timeouts and pinned JM deep after a punt. Four futile passes later and all OHS needed to do was take a couple knees to secure the heart-pounding victory.

MEMORIES & MOMENTS I 5 Years ago, after 5 games

Entering Week 6 of the 2016 season, the Huskies were above .500 for the first time all season at 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the sub-district. They were coming off what would prove to be their most-productive offensive output of the season in a 49-18 rout of Austin and preparing to host Rochester Mayo (4-1, 3-0) in a battle for Red Division supremacy.

MEMORIES & MOMENTS I 10 Years ago, after 5 games

Entering Week 6 of the 2011 season, Owatonna took its offense to another level after throttling rival Faribault, 54-0, in Week 5 and was 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big Nine Conference. The Huskies were preparing to start a stretch of two road game in three outings to end the regular season with the long trip to Paul Giel Field to square off against Winona (1-4, 0-4).

MEMORIES & MOMENTS I Recent history tells us

In the last 15 years, Owatonna is undefeated at 17-0 against Rochester John Marshall and has won those games by an average score of 36-9. The Huskies have not allowed more than 24 points in any single game the stretch and have surrendered seven or fewer points in the last five matchups, including two shutouts (2018, 2020).
